A Day in the Life….

Arrival at 8:30am

Circle Time 8:40

All of the children come together with their teachers to say hello, to share and to settle. The teacher guides children through playful and instructional songs, dances and activities. Children practice listening, sharing space and participating with the daily lessons. Through song and story, children learn about themselves, their world, and the environment around them.

Indoor/Outdoor Play and Work Groups 9:00

During this time children are often strategically grouped, depending on factors such as age or interests. One group may help prepare a snack while the other tends to the garden. Group time includes play activities such as free play inside, dramatic and domestic pretend play, puzzles, blocks, clay, and Montessori manipulatives. Groups may also play outside in the garden, planting seeds, sensory play, water play, and mud kitchen explorations. Older preschool children will have Kinder readiness activities during this time, including journaling, math manipulatives, beginning readers, Montessori manipulatives and more.

Open Snack Table 9:45-10:30

Our organic, vegetarian snacks are offered to the children between 9:45-10:30. Children read the snack menu during their circle time. When they decide to eat snack, the child will come to the snack hutch and gather the necessary plates and utensils. Children serve themselves snack, eat with a friend or two and then wash their dishes.

Second Circle 11:10

The second circle is designed as our way of communicating what we’ve learned today and what we loved about our time at school. It is also a great time to remind children of anything they would still like to do before the day is done.

Lunch Time 11:30

Children bring their lunch boxes to the yard and we eat picnic style. We enjoy the outdoors, weather permitting and compost our leftover food scraps to feed the chickens.

Final Playtime and Story 12:00-12:45

When children finish their lunch they may play freely in the yard. Before parents come for pick up time, the teacher may choose to tell or read a story at the very end of the day.

Pick-up Time is at 1:00pm
